Biography  

Fred's practice focuses on IP enforcement, with particular experience in copyright infringement, unfair competition civil litigation and Customs action against IPR infringing products. Fred also regularly advises clients on other IP-related issues, including brand protection, trademark prosecution and acquisition, trade dress and trade secret protection, etc.

Representative experience

  • Acting for Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. in a copyright infringement and unfair competition case in Guangzhou IP court. This case was selected by the Chinese Supreme People's Court as one of the top 10 IP cases in 2015.

  • Acting for Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. in a copyright infringement and unfair competition case in Shanghai No.1 Intermediate People’s Court.  This case was selected as one of the top 10 IP cases in Shanghai in 2014.

  • Participating in legislation research project concerning the reform of PRC Trademark Law.

  • Advising Chinese mobile game developer in civil dispute in multiple-jurisdictions.

  • Advising U.S. chemical industry client in trade secret protection in China.

  • Advising U.S. entertainment industry clients on the formulation of comprehensive IP protection strategy and IP enforcement action related to entertainment show and theme park in China.

  • Assisting a leading U.S. filmmaker to successfully defend copyright infringement litigation in China.

  • Advising U.S. and European companies in anti-counterfeit actions and trademark prosecution cases.  

  • Advising and acting for a Japanese game hardware and software developer on more than 50 Customs seizure cases on Chinese boarder and other IP-related matters, including circumvention devices, counterfeit game accessories, copycat games, design patent infringement, etc.
